چکیده
Background: Intravenous catheter-related blood stream infections (PVC-BSIs) are one of the common causes death and illness in hospitals worldwide. Failure to practice adequate aseptic techniques is a leading cause caused by catheters. The aim this study identify microbiological makeup sepsis intensive care unit. Materials methods: Participants comprised all unit (ICU) inpatients who had peripheral venous catheter (PVC) implanted showed symptoms septicemia within 48 hours after PVC implantation. Kirby-Brauer disc diffusion technique was used test antibiotic susceptibility bacterial isolates, as recommended CLSI. Results: Twenty percent patients identical growth tip cultures cultures, suggesting bloodstream infection (PVC- BSI), while twenty-five were colonised thirty unrelated catheter. For one-quarter patients, (25%) no organism development identified. Among 20 diagnosed with PVC-BSI, 8 (40%) found have Staphylococcus aureus, 4 (20%) Klebsiella species, CONS, 2 (10%) Enterococcus 1 (5%) both Acinetobacter Pseudomonas species.

متن کاملCatheter Related Escherichia hermannii Sepsis in a Haemodialysis Patient
Escherichia hermannii is an extremely rare etiological agent of invasive infection, and thus, the bacterium was initially considered non-pathogenic. However, in five previously reported case reports E. hermannii has been implicated as the sole pathogen. Our case report describes blood stream infection with E. hermannii in a haemodialysis patient with persisting symptoms, high fever and inflamma...
متن کاملIs Foley Catheter Able to Drain the Bladder Completely in the Morning for Patients in ICU?
Introduction: Foley catheters are assumed to drain the bladder completely. It is known that uncompleted drainage leads to multiple complications, such as asymptomatic bacteriuria and urinary tract infection. Methods: From 116 patients, who were admitted to intensive care unit (ICU) for more than 24 hours, were enrolled in this study. To measure the urine level in bladder in the morning before a...
